The Almanac of Sanguine Paths – World Creation

The first part of any solo RPG adventure typically is some form of creation. I absolutely LOVE the creation aspects of this particular game. Unlike most games where you start with character creation, this game requires to start at world creation. While there are pregenerated ideas to choose from, I have really enjoyed coming up with my world.

So, what does my world look like?

This adventure takes place in a modern day version of the USA. Werewolves in this area of the world have basically been hunted to extinction due to faulty information and misguided beliefs. Werewolves are feared and hunted. Humans have this innate tendency to fear the supernatural and werewolves are no exception, even those that dive headfirst into the supernatural still fall victim to this innate fear. This fear lead to the mass hunt of werewolves. Those that survived, hide from the world that fears them most. They try not to interact with humans as much as possible. Werewolves have night vision, they can see in dim light and darkness without the aid of a light source. Werewolves also have innate superior healing abilities that can be transferred to humans in rare occasions. Because of this innate superior healing, many in the healthcare field do not fear werewolves in the same way. This can lead to a lack of reporting werewolf attacks to authorities.

Werewolf Society can be seen in a few different ways. Guardian: We work at the junction of humanity, nature, and supernatural. Can we protect humanity from the dangers of the supernatural and nature from the dangers of humanity? Paranoia: We have many enemies. We stand between the supernatural and the humans they wish to control or destroy. What happens when we mistake genuine aid as a threat? Self-Sufficient: There aren’t many of us, and we move around a lot. We always have a bag packed, and we never depend on anyone. What happens when my life depends on the actions of a human? Loneliness: It’s hard to make a connection with another person. How do we stop pushing people away?
